Couples Therapy
I love working with couples who want to better understand one another, break free from painful relationship patterns, and build a stronger, more secure connection. Whether you're navigating recurring conflict, recovering from betrayal, facing a major life transition, or simply feeling disconnected, therapy can become a space where both partners feel seen, heard, and understood.
What Can Couples Therapy Look Like?
My approach to couples therapy is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that helps couples understand the patterns they get caught in and create more secure, connected relationships.
Rather than focusing only on what you're fighting about, we slow down and get curious about what's happening underneath the conflict. Often, couples find themselves caught in the same cycle: one partner reaches for connection and the other pulls away, one becomes critical while the other becomes defensive, or both partners end up feeling misunderstood, rejected, or alone.
In our sessions, we'll work together to understand these patterns with compassion rather than blame. I'll help you identify the emotions, needs, and fears that can be difficult to express in the heat of conflict, and support you in finding new ways to communicate them to one another.
Over time, the goal isn't to eliminate conflict altogether. It's to help you feel more secure turning toward each other when things get difficult, repair when you've been hurt, and build a relationship where both partners feel seen, valued, and understood.
You don't have to know how to do this before you come in.
You don't need to arrive with perfect communication skills or know exactly what's wrong. That's part of what we'll figure out together. Couples therapy can be a space to slow down the cycle, understand what's happening between you, and begin creating a different way of relating.
