About Me

Hi, I’m Alexis Renko, a psychotherapist based in New York. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, where I also completed my clinical internship and specialized training in relational and trauma-informed care.

At the heart of my work is a deep belief that each person already carries the wisdom they need to live more authentically—sometimes that wisdom just needs a safe, compassionate place to be heard. My role is to help you reconnect with that inner knowing, explore what’s been getting in the way, and move toward a life that feels meaningful, grounded, and true to who you are.

I specialize in supporting adults navigating identity exploration, relationship shifts, anxiety, and the effects of trauma. Many of my clients come to therapy during seasons of change—feeling stuck in old patterns, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain of what’s next. Together, we slow down, get curious, and create space for healing and clarity to emerge.

As a queer woman, I’m especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples, as well as anyone whose lived experiences may not fit neatly into society’s expectations. I also hold particular interest in supporting those navigating religious deconstruction and reconstruction—honoring the grief, confusion, and possibility that can arise when long-held beliefs begin to shift.

My approach is humanistic, relational, and integrative. I draw from Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (“parts work”), Psychodynamic Theory, and Feminist Theory to help clients make sense of their past and deepen into their present. I see therapy as a collaborative process rooted in empathy, authenticity, and respect for your autonomy.

Outside of sessions, you can often find me walking my dog, going to concerts, spending time with loved ones, or exploring new recipes and restaurants.
